Again! Contaminated food...

What would be more heartbreaking than seeing thousands of babies crying and moaning over the pain with an IV drip hooked into a vein? The milk products scandal, like all the other contaminated products China has produced, has shocked parents and challenged the wildest imagination of Americans—how could they imagine the Chinese would harm their very own ancestors apart from doing them in intentionally? (according to some bloggers)

For years Chinese or even Hong Kongers have been trying to measure up with the international standard in hopes of gaining a foothold in the world’s stage. Yet we have succeeded in part, in terms of financial success and outlook of prosperity embellished with high-tech architectures including the recent bird nest. Gold medals are in our hands, and the public acclaims we quickly put in a safe. Yet all these cannot save the degenerating virtues that endanger the very vulnerable Chinese populace.

When it comes to proud moments we stand in line waving our red flags in hand; yet, we remain nonchalant instantly to declare our “Hong Kong” identity in face of international reprimands. Voices from local media went silence. One should remember the well known news headlines from the prior chief executive of Food and Heath Department Mrs. Chan: “I eat chicken every day.” But at this time of the day, no news agencies choose running a photo of Mengniu’s CFO sipping from a carton of Mengniu milk, saying that only “a small portion of the company’s inventory was contaminated.” USA today reported, it was “a show of confidence.”

Yes. Confident that it seems, our country pays at a high cost.
